Friday, January 16, 2009, is 12 Chicchan (Serpent). Today in the Mayan daily insights we awaken to Chicchan, with a simple message. “Life has only so much predictability”.
The wheels turn, and while each day gives us a new combination we are also given something we have received so many times before. This is not the first 12 Chicchan. This is not the first sunrise. This is not the first breath, or first thought. Everything is new, but at the same time familiar. This joining of the old and the new creates the spark, and brings excitement in their joining.
With this mixing of the old and the new it is easy for any of us to say, “I have been here before”, and close ourselves off to the subtle nuance of the moment. Even in what appears to be a routine has delicate shades of difference.
Each day is intended to be a celebration, yet we sleepwalk through so many moments. “Open your eyes, for opportunity awaits you with every breath”. And so we greet Chicchan, who awaits our arrival with the greatest gift of all.
