Tuesday, January 20, 2009, is 3 Muluc (Water). Sometimes when we wade out into the water there is a stirring of the sediment, and something that was once clear in the past becomes murky.
Today is a day to face that murkiness and move forward even though our direction is not always clear. This broad spectrum is both the blessing and the curse of our adventure on this planet. How have we learned over the long counts to respond to this mixed blessing? We started from a place of little knowledge or experience, set aside our rights and responsibilities to make our own choices, and placed our ability to assess onto a group level by creating rules, laws, ethics and judgments. It is far simpler in its true nature, it only asks that we see what is before us and choose.
Had we faced our choices one by one we could have called them drops and trickles.Muluc gives us opportunity today to face the dams we have created in our attempts to contain the many choices we face as they accumulate before us. When we look from another perspective this question could be asked: how could we ever come to fear our freedom to make our own choices? It’s as simple as that, and Muluc invites us to wade out into the water, but we must stand still long enough for the sediment to settle.
Today is the day of a changing of the guard in the U.S., and as I write this unusual message in the name of Muluc I see the connection. With 3 Muluc we also look into the triangle, but who or what plays each role? Perhaps one player is our government or leadership, and another is our individuality. Is the third point something external to ourselves, or another internal aspect?
