Saturday, January 17, 2009 is 13 Cimi (Death). What does it mean to end a cycle with the influence of Cimi, the glyph representing death? This concept can be frightening in the physical sense. In the spiritual sense the meaning is far different.
In mythology we have the phoenix, a magical bird that bursts into flames and leaves only a pile of ashes, yet is reborn from those ashes. This story is symbolic of spiritual transition. To take the next step we must leave the last one behind.
Release is important for our spiritual growth, for energy must flow, and is in a constant state of change. Our physical form seeks to be safe, holding on to patterns that have ensured survival. Even in our evolution on this planet we continue to act in our primitive ways, forming conclusions and then clinging to those concepts. How does this affect our spiritual flow? How can we see when we hold our eyes so tightly closed?
Today is the day of Cimi, a chance to appreciate the gifts and challenges we have faced and still allow ourselves to move on. Tomorrow begins another 13 numbered cycle with a very graceful beginning.
