Mayan Daily Insights: Our Qualities, Virtues, and Values

Tuesday, February 3, 2009, is 4 Akbal (Night, House). We have form and breath, and the resulting expression that is the human life. What a perfect world, or is it? Do we ever ask the difference between our own existence and that of the animal world?

Akbal, the night, brings in the element of the dream. Is it illusion? Yes, it has to be, how else would we believe that we are anything but complete? Akbal gives us, through this element of the dream a vision, idea, thought, interest, hope.

Akbal comes to us in this cycle with the spirit of four. Yes, we are complete, with the four seasons and the four elements of the world. But we cannot stay here, in this box we have created. We must grow, and move forward within the cycle, and so it goes. Some think of Akbal as temptation, others as a nightmare. Akbal merely reminds us that there is more to life than what we see before us, through illusions brought forth in the cover of night.  Tomorrow we turn to Kan, the seed, where we awaken, and begin again.
