We are less than a week away from the Spring Equinox and the three day’s of the Healing Drum Retreat. Combining sound, focus, interactivity, and spiritual tools for growth, this event is offered in a beautiful country setting at Brighton Creek Conference Center in Yelm, WA.
How will these days flow together in the Mayan Tzolkin Calendar? Let’s begin by looking at Friday March 20th. This is the day of the equinox and in the evening we will have a welcoming dinner followed by drum making and moccasin making classes.
Friday is 10 Lamat, the culmination of our planning into a fruitful event. Lamat is the star, bringing a wonderful energy of creation with grace. Drum making can be such a powerful experience. From my clairvoyant perspective I have seen each drum maker work through their doubts and concerns, then rise above that challenge with an amazing creation. Each drum is woven of the energy of the drum maker, the spirit of the animal, and on this day we will bring in the grace of Lamat.
Saturday we will arise and greet the sun with 11 Muluc, the Water. This will be a day of cleansing and release, and the many topics we will cover this day support this opportunity. We can think of this as the cleansing, refreshing feeling of water as it splashes across our skin. It is the cool drink that replenishes. It is the reflection on the water, showing us the picture that the earth embraces with our presence.
Why is the Healing Drum a weekend long retreat? Let’s stay with the stream (pun intended) of Muluc, the water. “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make them drink” is an age-old expression, but what does it mean? We are offered many opportunities in this lifetime, but we don’t always incorporate the gifts and lessons into our lives. Why not? One reason has to do with practice. Being a weekend-long event you will have many opportunities to practice the tools we offer you, think about the concepts presented, and ask those questions that arise. In the Mayan calendar the day 10 is the day of manifestation. Eleven could be considered the digestion of the meal, idea, lesson, or creation. Tomorrow gives us the next step in our spiritual evolution.
Sunday March 22nd is 12 Oc, the dog. This day is a little like the growth that comes in spurts as we transition from child to adult. In a spiritual view it is expansion, bringing more consciousness into our lives. When we combine this number day with the message of Oc we speak highly of ourselves. Our focus on this day will be in deserving, receiving, having that which we have worked so hard at achieving.
We will focus on many qualities offered through the glyphs. Today we call those qualities “virtues”, and this topic will be covered in the Healing Drum Retreat as well. Join us for this wonderful healing weekend. To learn more about the Healing Drum retreat visit the Healing Drum Retreat website. There you will find phone numbers and contact forms. Pre-registration is required, but we may still have spaces available. The fee is only $170 for the entire weekend, including meals and lodging in cabins. Drum making and moccasin making will be at an additional cost for supplies, but we welcome observers as well.
