In the Mayan Daily Insights today Wednesday, April 8, 2009, is 3 Manik (Deer, Hand). Yesterday we talked about the act of inhaling and exhaling. On the day of two we have a simple directional movement. Today, on the third day, we explore the purpose. What good is action and reaction without reason?
And so here we stand, having let go as Cimi requested. On this day we greet the power of Manik, the deer or hand. In order to receive we must create a space, or an open hand. An open hand is never empty.
The Buddhist philosophy speaks of the state of nothingness, that state of non thought where we are free from our thoughts and conditioning. There is no goal, no focus on what we will receive, but as we step out of that meditative state we carry with us some of that nothingness. This open hand gives us room to receive outside of our normal filters and limits.
Early we spoke of bringing into our world the third element of purpose. How does this relate to the open hand? Is our purpose already defined for us? Is purpose a directive, a mission, or a gift?
