Begin anew from where you stand today

In the Mayan Tzolkin Calendar, today is Sunday, April 5, 2009 is 13 Kan (Seed, Lizard). Today we step into that Mayan magical number 13 with the spirit of Kan, with a idea that we can always begin anew. This does not mean beginning from square one, because even when you go back to the beginning you do so with the knowledge of where you have been. So in a sense we create a paradox: we have the freedom to begin again, but we are never free from ourselves. For some this is a love/hate relationship. But the universe, and Kan, reminds us that for all things we create, or are given. We have the choice to surrender, release, and even walk away from those things that have embraced or imprisoned us.

Today’s message may seem contradictory, but it is not. The coin has two sides, and we try to push those sides into the vessels of good or bad, Neither side has more power or value over the other, though, and one without the other would be lost and meaningless. We need a purpose to give us direction, and we need our puzzles to give us insight.

Begin anew, but bring into this seed all the experience and wisdom that has brought you to this place. Begin anew from where you stand today. Aho.
