In the Mayan Daily Insights today Wednesday, April 22, 2009, is 4 Imix the Alligator. Yesterday we had opportunity to step into the gracious arms of Ahau, the light. This step is something that is available to us all the time, every day with each breath we take. Today we have yet another opportunity, or focus.

Today we speak of Imix, the birth of a new day. In a lifetime there are many events that come and go, and as such they are only creations, much like a cardboard box. Even more important are the many people who come and go in a lifetime.  With each comes many relationships, for with each person we may have a multitude of interactions. A mother can be a friend, parent, playmate, and teacher to their child, and visa versa.

Why is this topic arising on the day of Imix? It is not about the mother and child, and the birth cycle that is the focus today, nor is it about the number four and its seemingly complete state. No, we focus today on the space in-between.

We seek completeness. We long for security. Our heart wants to feel safe, as does the physical form we live in. But we cannot exist in that imagined state. Yes, the number four has a sense of togetherness, supported by the seasons, the cycle of the medicine wheel, and so on. Consider this place to be a guideline rather than a destination.

Imix reminds us that every moment of every day we have the chance and the choice to be reborn. This does not mean walking away, or burning bridges, but embracing who we are and where we have been, and then opening our hearts to include even more.

Taking those steps can feel frightening, and we don’t always take those first steps in the most graceful way. Despite the odds we do continue, for we carry with us the compassion of Imix and the eternal love of Ahau. Maybe if we stay in focus with our spiritual support we will be able to better recognize and encourage that support in the world around us.

Looking within our own soul can be a challenging experience, for we also carry the concepts, beliefs, and opinions of those we have encountered throughout our lives. Clarity can be found in a way that does not challenge or tear down, but in a flow that recognizes your inner truth and spiritual path, as well as the alliance we have with the world around us. Sessions are available by phone, online (chat) or email.
