What we receive is not for the universe to decide

In the Mayan Daily Insights, Tuesday, April 21, 2009, we find 3 Ahau (Light, Lord). At times the journey is filled with many trials and tribulations, and we keep our chin up and continue on our way, despite the hardships we face. What often happens when we finally reach that destination?

For some it is difficult to step away from the hardships, especially after such a long journey. They become accustom to the life filled with struggle. Even though they have reached what they have longed for, they may withhold their hand, hold back their acceptance. “What will I do now?” they ask. Away they walk, disappointed that the one hand is empty but clinging to the idea that they have retained what they have come to know as “home”.

Please, do not walk away yet. This is not just the sad story of the discontent. There are those who reach that destination and allow themselves to finally arrive. Their heart pours out, and what comes out first? All those sacrifices, and the struggle and pain. Are they rejecting the love they have beckoned for? Not at all, they are simply exhaling, letting go, and creating space so they may finally have what they have sought for so long.

Both scenarios face a challenge, even in completion of their journey! Both must make a hard decision, to give up their burden or to walk away. In either case the destination was the same. Both had the opportunity for a gift that they could choose or walked away from was the same. What we receive is not for the universe to decide. We can be faced at any moment with open arms and a love so pure, but we are the only ones who can step in to fill that space.
