What we receive and how we perceive it

In the Mayan Tzolkin Calendar, Thursday, April 16, 2009, is 11 Men (Eagle). Every step we take is of value to us, but we must understand that everything serves us in a different way. This act of service is the concept behind Men, the Eagle.

Service is not always a conscious event. We are served by the sun on our face, a cool drink of water, and the earth beneath our feet. In fact, every moment of every day our environment supports and nourishes us. What if the air suddenly decided to no longer sustain us, where would we be?

How do we take this seemingly unintentional act of service and give it value in our individual lives? Good question. Maybe the intent of Men, the Eagle, is to get us to look not just at what is given to us so unconsciously and freely, but to turn to the side that we can control. We are able to step into a conscious awareness of what we receive, how we perceive it, and what we give in return.
