In the Mayan Daily Insights, Friday, May 15, 2009, is 1 Kan, the seed. Today brings us the beginning of a new cycle, and the wisdom of Kan, the seed, so fitting for the first day. The message of the day, according to Kan, is to focus on how well your energies are directed.
When we look into the act of growing seeds, we must at some point admit that we do not grow the seeds, the seed takes care of that task. We are groundskeepers, there to maintain the environment so that the seeds can do their job. There are many ways to encourage and support the growth around us, whether it is for others or for our own benefit.
We’re not all farmers, but we are the groundskeepers for our ideas and creations. Within that thread we are also the formation of the seed itself. Not every seed is well enough developed to grow, and we can recognize this and let those seeds fade away.
I’ve yet to get to the point of today’s concept, and I suppose that the story preceding sets the stage. The image given to me of today did contain a seedling, but what stood out in this vision was its surroundings. As I looked around I saw that the land was dry and barren. How well can this seed grow in such an environment? Aren’t the odds against its survival?
Within our thoughts we create seeds every day. How well do we form those thoughts, are they strong enough to withstand the elements they will face? Will they grow into nourishing ideas, or help us build? How many thoughts do we produce that are thistles and poison ivy?
When we step into the role of the groundskeeper, what environment do we create within our mind to encourage those seeds to grow? Do we neglect the seedling by thinking that its support will come from elsewhere through some miracle? Have we forgotten, at least for the moment, that every breath, and step, and thought we possess contains the elements that seed needs for its survival? We possess those drops of rain and grains of earth that are the miracle waiting to happen.
In the landscape of your vision what do you see? Is your garden rich and lush, or barren?
