Thursday, May 7, 2009, is 6 Cib (Vulture). Today is the beginning of the Mercury retrograde with Gemini. In astrology the recommendation is made to place decision making before or after this astrological event. Both Mercury and Gemini focus on communication, which I find quite ironic when we bring a full moon and Cib into the picture.
This morning as I prepared for the day I pondered the interactivity of Cib and the full moon. Looking back on past full moon, and the influence of the Mayan Tzolkin symbols on those days, I feel like saying, “we’re just not given the opportunity to hide in ourselves anymore”.
I look, too, at the symbolic significance of where I am, physically, as I conclude my trek into the sparsely populated desert setting (down the street from the vulture roost) and return to the city. At home the shades are drawn at night, and there I am in my unseen, safe cocoon. We have created cities that sometimes feel like there is no space to breath, like we have to draw a line around us to preserve our “space”. I see too that this is a creation for our growth, for no one and nothing can take your presence away from you.
In my temporary desert setting my slumber is beneath uncovered windows, and the positioning of this room is ideal for observing the movement of the moon each night. Every night the brightness of the moon, even with a cast of clouds, glows brightly, yet does not interfere with my rest. There is nothing to block the flow between body and the universe, and even in rest I am connected to both. With this balance of self awareness and connectivity there is flow, the greatest communication available to us. Introspect should never be feared, not when we remain in the light of the moon.
