Thursday, May 28, 2009, is 1 Caban (Earth). This morning I woke up, as usual, a good event in my eyes, and almost immediately dove into projects. The one project in the forefront was the Mayan Daily Insight for the day. This thought surfaced for a moment and then sank in the whirlwind of other ideas and activities.
After a half hour or so I focused again on my most favored task, and opened my notebook to confirm which day it was. When I gave attention to the tones for this day, One Caban, I felt a sudden shift. Today is a brand new day. Yes, we’ve all heard that phrase before, but do we live it?
“I’m too busy”, is a common cry. This distracting statement only serves to lift us out of the moment and into its own whirlwind. We are not busy because we have a lot to do, we are busy because we are trying to stand upright in the midst of the whirlwind. How much energy can we waste in our effort to fight our own chaos?
Today is One Caban, the earth, with a reminder that the best place to start is at the beginning. Find your purpose in this day and then let yourself be fully planted with both feet on the ground. It only takes a moment to draw your focus and energies into that one grounded space, but that connectivity will give you strength the entire day.
