Monday June 22, 2009 is 13 Ik (Wind). Today we take that step from the one cycle into the next through the magical number 13. The last few days have been very uplifting for many, and they walk away wondering if they can sustain the uplift. Worry– even in those times when you look in another direction you can never go far from the breath of life that animates you. The breath is consciousness, desire, wanting, seeking, knowing, asking, and many other sparks that show our spirit lives within us.
I have a story to share: during this last weekend we held another Healing Drum Retreat in Washington State. Our event was outdoors, and we were fortunate (blessed and protected) that the storm that crossed the state over the weekend had little impact on our event, but poured buckets of water and high winds in surrounding areas. As we prepared for our event we had some winds, and set the canopies in the most protected arrangement we could to lessen the impact of the wind. Everything worked for the best, and we all had a great time. Then on Sunday as we were packing up our supplies a huge gust came in and uplifted the canopies, carrying them across the property. We laughed as we discovered, firsthand, that the spirit of Ik can be quite uplifting!
The wind, Ik, came through to tell us, “You’ve completed what you came to do, now it is time to move on”. The physical gives us time, a valuable element that allows us focus and commitment, but spirit moves like the wind. Tomorrow starts a new cycle, and while our lives are always moving forward we can always focus on who we are, why we are moving in our chosen direction, and all the amazing insights that are contained within ourselves, within our breath that is spirit.
