In the Mayan Daily Insights, Friday, August 14, 2009 is 1 Men (Eagle). Today starts a new 13 day cycle with the alliance of Men, the Eagle. Many believe that through service they are enriched. While it is all well and good to think of others we must look inside to see where that giving comes from.
When we have giving from the standpoint of duty we make a very strong statement of ourselves, that we are willing to place our own self on the line, and for some that means even the sacrifice of life. It is a noble form of giving to others, but a portion of the giving still remains with the self. Please understand I do not criticize or condemn the heroic acts, I am only stepping to a different level of giving.
There is another act of service when we stand strong, and we give purely as an act of service to others, with no loss or return to us. We still gain so much, but it is within our own heart and life learning that we receive. This is a practical expression in the art of living fully within self, but it is not selfish, it is self fulfilling.
