In the Mayan Daily Insights, Tuesday, August 4, 2009 we find the influence of 4 Chicchan, the serpent. While every symbol in the Mayan calendar is significant, this is one that I feel is most important. It is a reminder that no matter how much we do, or have, it means little when we cannot find the pleasure in life.
Our activities do not live, but they are animated by our passion. They give nothing unless we allow ourselves the enjoyment of a job well done, and reap the benefits. For anything in life to have meaning we must be willing participants.
Four is a sign of completeness, giving us the seasons or the four directions, but our world is not flat. We must have the animating qualities of spirit to truly appreciate the world around us.
