Equinox Sept 2009: The place where anything can be found

Mayan Tzolkin Cycles Add comments

This next cycle carries us into the depth. Into the depth of what I cannot say for sure. There is darkness, with the third day with the vulture, a breakthrough on the fifth day with Edznab, the tenth day in Akbal the night, and the thirteenth day in Cimi, death. I want so much to focus on the darkness, but I see as well that in the darkness we have such opportunity to cultivate hope, faith, trust, and many other virtues.

In the movie, “The Green Mile”, a woman is healed of an advanced brain tumor. As she reawakens to her conscious self she looks at John Coffey, the man who pulled the tumor from her, and says something like, “I dreamt that we were in the dark and we found each other, even in the dark we found each other”.

Dreamt: to reach out into a dream, to aspire, to to think or conceive of something even if in a very remote way.

The darkness gives us a chance to let go and step out of our limiting minds so we can have, see or do outside the normal. The darkness might even be seen as that strange little shift in consciousness, the in-between of the breath, where miracles are able to enter our mundane world. Isn’t that the purpose of our dreams?

This cycle may appear to be dark, even sacrificial, but there is always a sacrifice or exhale we make before receiving. Even in the dark we are not alone, the shamanic force of the Jaguar gives us our footing in the first day, and the light of Ahau stands center-point on the seventh day, illuminating the entire journey, even the shadows.

This new cycle begins on the fall Equinox, the day of “equal night”. Maybe we will see that silence really is golden, and that little is ever lost, but anything can be found.
