In the Mayan Daily Insights, Monday, September 14, 2009 6 Cimi, also known as death. Yesterday we spoke of the magnetic passion of Chicchan, an energy that might easily be described as the “high”. As I look at the connection between Chicchan and Cimi I see images from the bible, Sodom and Gomorrah, and the harsh and twisted lessons learned in the earlier days.
The physical life experience is built upon a pulsating cycle. This pulse, the ebb and flow of the tide, is what animates us. We cannot live solely in the high-point and pleasure of Chicchan. We must also take steps into release and realization, and expand our consciousness. This means letting go, turning inward, and looking more closely at ourselves. It’s a step in our spiritual “growing up”.
We have a little bit of a charge build into the word “Death”. Well of course we do, that big physical death is quite a change in our lifestyle. In the Tzolkin Mayan calendar it is best to see Cimi not as death, but as the ability to choose transformation. Change is good, it keeps us from falling more deeply into sleep.
