Mayan Daily Insights: Our Qualities, Virtues, and Values

In the Mayan Daily Insights, Monday, September 21, 2009 is 13 Ben, the Reed. Today is the thirteenth day tone, giving us the overlapping between the road and the power we possess to elevate and motivate ourselves onward. In this instance I do not see the footprint, or even the dust rising from the impact of our movement. No, on this day I see the wavering of the Reed in the in-between space.

As we travel just how much of our time is spent with our foot on the ground? Very little, yet we place so much emphasis on that one aspect of the journey. Why, we might ask. I think it’s because of evidence. We can see a footprint on the road, and can measure it. We can look at the preceding footprints as well and speculate about our next footprint, even though we all know that assumptions are not the gospel truth.

What about that in-between, the long journey as our foot rises from the ground and moves forward through time and space in its quest to cast a new footprint? We can only be in the moment, able to fully experience the miracle of our journey if we let ourselves, though most of our attention still lingers in the last impression we left in the dirt.

“Take a picture, it will last longer”. No, spirit is about movement, not evidence. The next footprint will come soon enough. Tomorrow we begin the next 13 day turning of the wheel and a whole new story.
