We are reminded to be careful what we carry in our journey. It is our own choice to gather every rock and branch we have tripped over and drag them along with us each step of the way. Sometimes we do exactly that, but we also carry with us the many valuable tools for learning, like the reed and the eagle. These tools help us awaken and realize that it is only our past that is weighing us down.
Today is the road, and there are many steps to follow. We are bound to meet another rock along the way, but we are not obligated to make those rocks our master. We can acquire knowledge, and convert a whole lifetime of experience into fragments of wisdom. What we have learned is never a burden, not when we use it to find our next step in the journey.
