Today’s Mayan Daily Insight for Saturday, October 24, 2009 is 7 Cimi (Death). Yesterday we had a very graphic look at life through the element of fire. Today we focus on what comes from the flame with Cimi, the glyph of death.
In the aftermath of fire all that might remain is ashes with no resemblance to its original form. Our eyes may turn downward at the thought of such a transformation, at the loss. But let’s take a step back to the actual event.
Fire is movement, a powerful transformation that releases the energy that has been locked inside its vessel. As we consume ourselves in living we express our own energy, warming the hearts of both ourselves and others. A transformation takes place, and while we lose we also gain.
Do we look back at life and see the pile of ashes, or do we see the life within death? Cimi is called the glyph of death, but seen in its purest form we see in any transformation the energy contained within, and energy is the greatest representation of spirit. Isn’t our spending of ourselves over and over throughout a lifetime really the greatest honor of life?
