We are here to Reap the Bounty

Today’s Mayan Daily Insight, Thursday, October 1, 2009 is 10 Akbal, the glyph of Night or House. Today begins a new day in our present-day calendar, a day that feels like a significant change of seasons. In only a few days we complete this cycle in the mayan calendar with the celebration of the Harvest moon. For today we have the day of completion, at least in the physical sense, with Akbal, the night.

My first inclination when I think of completion and the darkness of Akbal is to pull back my energy and take a very deep breath. Can this be a very simplistic message?

There are few times we put great effort into anything without sticking around to reap the rewards. Yet there are times when we deny ourselves the full riches we create. We may dismiss the outcome and our true gains, or isolate ourselves in our ivory towers to preserve whatever we have gained.

The truth of the matter: we’re here to create, and we’re here to reap the bounty. Both, not one or the other. So what does that deep breath and pulling back into my “house” have to do with anything? It is everything, it is the recognition and realization of self: that we are here; that we matter; and that it is the right and responsibility of each of us to bring honor into your own house.
