In the Mayan Daily Insights, Friday, October 23, 2009 is 6 Chicchan, the Serpent. As I prepared for writing this day’s interpretation of the Tzolkin Mayan Calendar I realized that the string of random thoughts all morning tied together.
We are here to spend ourselves. Whether our time and energies go toward our career, friends or family does not matter, but the outcome has so much to say.
Chicchan holds tremendous passion, and we can invest ourselves deeply in the lives of those around us. Passion is often seen as fire, and fire can be used in many ways. We can turn to another, sharing the flame on our candle to help light another’s. We can be consumed by fire run amok. We can burn bridges as well.
Fire has a powerful appetite, but creates heat, leaving a balance of give and take. A lack of fire or void consumes far more, and can leave us feeling empty. A heart left in longing creates a vacuum, drawing in whatever it can to fill the bottomless void. What does it give in return other than emptiness?
We are here to spend ourselves, to give, and share, and enjoy the many aspects of living. Sometimes we give, sometimes too much, but in the end it all should come into balance. Invest yourself wisely, and remember that a flame always consumes and creates at the same time.
