Be ye wise as serpents

In ancient cultures the serpent has been revered as well as feared. The Serpent works were known as the great deception, in reference to acts of magic. What exactly do we face, is it good, or is it evil?

The serpent, the sign in the mayan calendar for this day, was know as the Astral Light of the Kabalists, spirit matter. As this purity of light descends, becoming more dense in the worldly plane, it becomes Maya, the tempting and deceitful serpent on our plane.

Is it all a deception? No, to react in such a way would be to fall victim to the trickery, to lose the benefit of experience and wisdom.

Jesus spoke of the serpent, stating “Be ye wise as serpents”. What exactly does this mean? Did he speak of that glorious Astral Light or the density and deceit in this world?

In the Mayan Daily Insights, Thursday, November 12, 2009 is 13 Chicchan, the Serpent.
Today is the 13th day in the cycle, accompanied by the sign of the serpent, Chicchan. If it were not for our ability to learn and gain wisdom then much of what we do might be considered foolish. But we are sparks of that divine light, and we have wisdom, much of what is yet to be discovered.

I see this as a sign that we live with the purest of intent, but can become entwined within the chaos of living. To “Be wise as serpents” is perhaps a message to remember our purpose and intentions so that our wisdom can be seen.
