In the stillness of night we remind ourselves of the days gone by. So often in the moment of creation we are wrapped up in the excitement of it all. The whirlwind is always more intense the more involved we are in giving of ourselves. It is in the night that we see the pieces and how they fit together.
Today in the Mayan Daily Insights, Monday, November 23, 2009 is 11 Cib, the Vulture. Perhaps we can say today’s focus is on perspective.
There are a million things that happen in our lives that come and go without giving it another thought. Then we have those events in which we are so heavily vested that even when the event is over we continue to hold it in the background of our awareness.
In the stillness we are reminded of what remains. If the event has come and gone, and there is no longer anything we can say or do that will change that event, then why do we continue to act out its outcome in our minds? Today is 11 Cib, with eleven being the day after completion, the day of perspective or hindsight. Cib is the vulture, and perhaps we want to honor the vulture on this day, reminding us to free ourselves from the pieces of the past that linger and distract us from today. Thoughts that linger change over time, rarely for our benefit. Let it rest, be at peace.
