The waves have crested in the holiday season, and now we can resume some sense of our normal lives. That’s a good thing, isn’t it? It’s good to let things settle, right? Then again, movement makes the water wheel turn, generating energy that enhances our lives. It is the sign of an alliance, celebrating the ingenuity of man discovering a way to find even greater benefit from the earth. This ingenuity is our evolution, so long as we don’t make too much of it.
December 26, 2009 is 5 Muluc, the Water, in the Mayan Tzolkin Calendar. The number five is a gateway to evolution, a time when we leave the comforts of home and explore a world beyond the basics. Why would we ever want to resume our normal lives, if we can even define what is normal.
Today let’s go with the flow, pun intended. We can have the best of both worlds. Let’s take the high points of every day and let those lift us to a new level of living, then glide so gracefully back into the calmness that always follows.
Earlier I stated, “This ingenuity is our evolution, so long as we don’t make too much of it.” I don’t know if anyone would question this, but I’ll respond nonetheless. This morning I watched out my window as a hummingbird filled its belly at its wintertime feeder. Not once have I seen a hummingbird take from a flower so much that the flower withers and dies. Let’s remember who we are, and realize that we do not need to bite that hand that feeds us. Be gentle on the earth, letting our evolution be a sign of harmony instead of divide and conquer.
