Mayan Daily Insights: How We Learn About Ourselves, One Day At A Time

For the Christian readers, today is Christmas day, but this story is for everyone. Yesterday we had a day of 3 Manik, a day of grace and hope, and we might draw a line of correlation to the story about the journey of the wise men.  They followed a star to reach their destination. They came bearing three gifts: frankincense, gold, and myrrh.

These gifts were all gifts of value in those times, and all are valued today.  Did you know frankincense is used medicinally for joint health?  All three have a high energy vibration, and a strong healing quality.  Typically I do not speak of such things in these postings, but on this day it seemed appropriate.  When we step past the reasons anything is considered valuable we can look from a higher perspective at the exchange itself: value for value.

Today is December 25, 2009 4 Lamat, the Star.  Yesterday was the number three, and the star lead 3 to their destination.  There are trinities in many different cultures and forms.  Body, mind and spirit is one example.  The shamanic cultures see the world in three levels: the earth, sky, and the underworld.  Countless more examples exist.

What is my point?  Today is 4 Lamat, the glyph of the Star.  A star was used to make an announcement, joining in the celebration of the arrival of something special.  The star seems to be the element that gives the stamp of approval, an endorsement of sorts.  Doesn’t that sound grand, to have endorsement for our works of art, even for our very existence?

Value for value: that is what I hear today.   We look out and we see signs, and those signs help us to open our eyes in a whole new way.  We embark on our own journey, following that star, only to find when we reach our destination that we are home again.  Value for value, today let us celebrate exactly who we are, and where we stand.
