The first three days of this year have been an excellent example of our creative process: we began with a richly seated power with Ix, the Jaguar; once we could see the “power behind us” we then had to decide to apply that power through our commitment and service, using Men, the Eagle; finally we see (or allow) that thought-based decision to take form, bringing in Caban, the Earth.
The funny thing about this “cycle” is it’s placement in the wheel of numbers. Much of the time we would think of our cycle as 1-2-3: see, decide, and then “do”. We could also say that we don’t really ever think about numbers, because (face it or not) we are powerful enough now to create beginnings and endings whenever we darn well choose.
This particular cycle takes place in the twilight of our number wheel, the eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth days. In a sense it is ending and beginning intertwined. Another way to look at it is de-ja-vu: having been somewhere before we are actually there.
January 3, 2010 is 13 Caban, the Earth, in the Mayan Tzolkin Calendar. Collectively we have been here a very long time. How much do we own up to our long-term relationship with the world around us? Who are we in this relational space? Do we accept our wisdom, or express ourselves as children of the earth, or manage a combination of both?
The number 13 is a magical number in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar. What is the intuitive meaning of this number? Evolution: learning from our experiences so that we can take that next step from a place that might demonstrate that we give even the smallest thought to what we are doing. Taking a step back from any place of judgment, we can take a “next step” from a number of places: reactive and unconscious; self-serving; small-minded; nurturing; building; or evolutionary, whatever that means.
So, the seed has long since been planted but nothing is set in stone. We always have choices available to us. Today is 13 Caban, the Earth, and we each choose how we make our mark. There is nothing more powerful than our own choices, it’s how we get results.

I own a jaguar car. On Christmas day it “died” on me for the first time ever. Turns out I filled up with bad gas. Got the car back on new years eve and now it runs fine. Wonder what this all means. humm
