We can look at the eclipse as something of importance?

In an eleven minute span the longest annular solar eclipse has come and gone.  Where does that leave us?  Are we like spectators going to a show, becoming enthralled in the story, thrilled by the climax, and in the end we go home and continue our lives as though nothing has changed?

It is January 15, 2010, which is 12 Muluc, the Water in the Mayan Tzolkin Calendar.  How do we relate the eclipse with the Mayan Daily Insights?  I see this as a step out of what is so obvious to us, the sun and the light, in order to see what cannot be seen.  It is the crossing point between the sun and the moon, a time when they share alignment, each bringing its own quality to the mix.

Why do we fill our lives with events, watching movies, listening to music, reading stories?  We seek to know.  Today is the twelfth day of the cycle, a day I refer to as evolution.  We can look at the eclipse as something of importance, an astrological wonder, and we can each give it a meaning.  Does it matter the medium in which our exploration comes through?  Is it not the step we take within our thoughts and our understanding that matters the most?

Muluc, the water, is an amazing carrier.  Touch the still pond and watch the ripples as they expand across the surface.  Soon enough the water is still again. What benefit is gained from this exercise?  Whether we gain wisdom or simply enough have the opportunity to experience our world, our voices can rise and say “Life is grand”.
