As I look out the window where does my focus lead me, and what do I make of my observations? It’s a drizzling rainy day, seemingly nonstop. It’s as though it has always been this way, even though I do remember the dry times of recent days past.
What about the observations? To see the rain is one thing, to be within my own reactions is yet another. A mild sense of sadness comes to the surface and a feeling of isolation as I realize yet again the space created between me and the world I would like to live in. Is it my own choice not to frolic in the rain, turning instead to the logic that claims its for my own self preservation to stay warm and dry on a cool winter day?
Today is January 5, 2010, which is 2 Cauac, the Rainstorm in the Mayan Tzolkin Calendar. The rainstorm, how fitting. Sometimes the rainstorm is perceived to be a hindrance, but what is the real barrier? Is it the elements that challenge us, or our second thoughts that lead us back to what we think is safe?
How often do we say, “It’s all about me”, in our minds perspective. So it should be, to some extent. We are here for the experience, the tactile sensory acts of living. Sometimes it does us good to see beyond the little things, as presented by Edznab just yesterday. The rainstorm clears the way for visions beyond today and its limited capacity. We may see this as losing something we think we need, clinging to the ideas of how our life is supposed to be. Tomorrow things come together, with 3 Ahau. For today let’s appreciate this opportunity to clear ourselves of our limiting beliefs.
