The Aftermath of Living

Today’s post delves into the reasoning of a 13 day cycle.  Today being day 11, the day that follows the traditional day of completion, we might wonder what purpose it serves.  Wouldn’t we just go back to number one again, and start the next cycle?  Of course we could do that, laying life out like a succession of days, flipping one pancake after another.

Our days may all have similarities, but they are still all unique. Taking this a step further it is not so much about what happens in the day, but our interpretation and gain from those experiences.  Evolution comes in the aftermath of living.

As I prepared for today’s writing I asked intuitively what the focus for this day should be, given that today is the eleventh day tone and the glyph sign of Imix.  I was immediately shown the pleasure of starting something new.  Isn’t it great that we can begin again?  But our beginnings are not purely brand new.  We combine parts of our collective life experience along with a new opportunity. That’s what makes us amazing, that’s what helps us grow.  Our lives are not a succession of pancakes, churning out one after the other.  Our days overlap, as do our experiences.  One feeds the other, and our life builds upon itself.

So on this day, January  27, 2010, and 11 Imix, the Alligator, we bring honor and recognition to the fact that we can start with a clean slate, but always carry with us the tools we need to build a brighter tomorrow.  We are here to live a life, to love and learn, and it all fits together.   Pass the syrup, have another pancake.
