Today is the start of an interesting 13 day cycle. We begin in a playful tone, peak with the earth, complete with the light, and rise into the full moon with the night, the greatest combination for observing.
Today we talk about the playful starting place. On January 17, 2010 we have 1 Chuen, the Monkey in the Mayan Tzolkin Calendar. When I look more deeply into the eyes of Chuen I see the keen ability of observation. My analytical mind wants to debate this concept, saying that the adult sees so much more than the child, but the answer comes back clearly, without argument. A child sees what is important for them to see. They see within the heart, and notice when words and actions do not meet.
One thing a child has that many adults seem to lose is the ability to be completely enthralled in their experience. To cut right to the chase, this is the message of Chuen today. Be in the moment, not in your head but in your heart. Give your attention to where you are, and you too will see what is truly important. This will serve you in the days to come. The head may be above it all, but the heart is closer to the world and what we are here to experience.
