Mayan Daily Insights: How We Learn About Ourselves, One Day At A Time

We have a great gift in our ability to learn, remember, and bring together our collective of experience into each day of our lives.  This ability can also serve as a limiter, causing us to use our old responses in a new situation without just cause.

Today is January 30, 2010, and in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar it is 1 Kan, the Seed.  We tell ourselves to be prepared, but what does that mean?  Is it confirming that there are no chinks in our armor?  Is it having the answer before the question presents itself?

Could preparedness be viewed as assuring ourselves that everything will be okay, that we are able to respond to the moment?  Kan is the seed, something new, can we let it be what it is?

Today brings focus to the ability for new starts, and the chance to slow down a little so that life isn’t always a drive-by situation.  We might be surprised what we find when we let the moment unfold in its own way, and then we can respond with grace and allowance instead of pulling out another one of our “one size fits all” responses.
