Do We See it as a Message of Honor?

The connectivity of the last few days is a hard act to follow, but one symbol of life is able to do so without hesitation.  Today is Monday February 15, 2010 which is 4 Ahau, the light in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar.

The light cannot be denied.  It beckons us to be awakened.  As I look out my window I see the birds resume their tasks.  The sunlight streams across the landscape and I cannot help but position myself where I can best receive it.  I notice the gentle turning of the wind catchers, and the way the light embraces the dew in the grass. I feel as thought it’s been a setup over the last few days, turning the table and clearing a spot, leaving the notebook in this place last night just so I would be here at this time to write this story.  As I type the light intensifies, and I feel as though I am being prepared for the day.

When I visit at a small town in the desert I can walk outside in the morning hours and watch the vultures warming themselves in the sun before they embark on their tasks for the day. They spread their wings, and on closing them they briefly assume a position reminiscent of a bow.  Could it be that, a message of honor?  Perhaps the thought does not cross their minds, but then people appear to be the only ones who must justify their actions.

For today we are reminded that the winds blow in four directions, and that the light embraces every direction.  As we move forward through the day our attention turns in so many direction and we won’t necessarily give thought to our inspiration, or the light that greets us every day.  The light of Ahau lingers with us though, overseeing every step along the way.
