Trepidation: I love that word!! Trepidation is a popular response to moving forward. It is that anxious feeling, pushing forward with that edgy, trembling feeling. Let’s call it what it is, that oh so common four-letter word: fear.
Friday February 26, 2010 is 2 Chuen, Monkey in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar. If you turn back the clock to yesterday you’ll find the answer to the question about taking that next step. More than anything else its about being there, taking the step both as the child-like Chuen and the adult that calls the shots.
When we step forward with both the innocence of becoming something new and the foundation we have built, that moment comes quickly, you know, the one when you realize, “Oh, this is okay”. Sometimes we say, “This isn’t so bad”, and sometimes we turn upward and say, “This is better than I expected”, but one way or another we stop being the new kid on the block and just belong.
Chuen is about the inner child but it is also about the tricks we play on ourselves. Fear acts that way, pulling us back, causing that knot in your stomach and the spinning in your mind. Trepidation will lead you astray, but the commitment given to anything you do will give that counterbalance and keep you on track.
