Some may hold the opinion that moving forward and growing up is a serious thing, and that we must give up our childhood ways along the way. I nearly bought into this theory, so much that I typed the first line, but as I neared the edge of the page I could not help but see another perspective.
Our common belief is that we grow into the person we will be. Childhood is allowed to be a non-committed time in life. I am reminded in this moment of the intensity that some express, even early in their lifetime, placing so much focus on the one thing that they must. Some may even call it an obsession.
As I view this way of living I hold this image of unwavering dedication against the image of my own life. I resonate with the mission of those who live so dedicated at an early age, even though my life did not progress in that direction. I say this with a sense of sadness as well, for the time perceived lost and the unanswered question permeating the air that asks, “What could I have created had I let myself”. Already though the impact of this deeply rooted feeling subsides, and I can see how I had my moments, as each of us have.
Thursday, April 8, 2010 is 4 Eb the Road in the Mayan Tzolkin Calendar. You may wonder the correlation between the Road and the story shared, but I think you already see it. When I look at those who have taken that path, become so fully engrossed in their purpose, I see the message of Eb, the road. Yesterday we talked of Chuen, the child, and the child is the master of the art of “fully embracing”. The riches in life, they are not down the road, they are the road.
