The serpent is an ancient symbol worldwide. It is woven into ancient carvings and sculptures, and is even a part of the symbol for our medical association. The serpent is a symbol of power. How that power is used is the golden question.
Today is 5 Chicchan, the Serpent in the Mayan Tzolkin Calendar. We are given many ways to view our world, to respond and create within that world. Some see it as bountiful, others as a ‘winner takes all’ environment. The collective abilities we possess give us the power to see the world as we choose, and to make of it whatever we desire.
If we are able to mold our world to meet our beliefs, what kind of world do we have when we see things from a limited perspective? Are we not getting ahead of ourselves, interjecting our power outside of ourselves without first understanding that power within?
Today is 5 Chicchan, the serpent. This sign appears playful, turning the world into a candystore of delights, but it is also a sign of deception. It is our role to understand what we hold within our hands and treat it in a way that creates more of those things that support and nourish us.
