Today is May Day, the first day of the month as well as the first day of the 13 day cycle of the Mayan calendar. On May Day it is tradition to give flowers. How wonderful, the giving. How fitting that this day coincides this time so harmoniously with the message contained in the 13 days and 20 glyphs of the Mayan calendar.
Saturday, May 1, 2010 is 1 Men the Eagle. Giving and service go hand in hand. We offer our self from the heart whether it is love or a sense of duty, and make it our priority without thought of what comes in return. Isn’t it true that in those times when we give so freely that we see the biggest response?
Today is a day of celebration. This glyph, Men the Eagle, is one that states that there can be no other way than the most beneficial way. That is the way of duty, doing something that we know must be done. Is it a selfless act, or does our giving express our core belief in ourselves, laying the foundation for everything else within our lives?
It is service we speak of, not servitude. We don’t ask that you give it all away, but that you give the best you have to offer. That offering comes from the heart, the soul, your wallet, or your time. It is not about content, but the intent and expression of appreciation that counts.
