Matter Does Matter

Today is a brand new day.  This is something we are guaranteed in this life, the rise and set, the ebb and flow, the breath that revives us and releases just the same.  Today is a brand new day.  We begin with a a full moon, what some call a time of lunacy, but many brilliant ideas were originally seen as the rantings of a crazy person.  Tell that to Einstein, Newton, any many others who have lead us in directions we could not originally see.

Today, May 26, 2010 is a day of beginnings.  In the Mayan Tzolkin calendar this day is 1 Imix, with Imix being recognized as the first symbol in the Mayan calendar.  This puts us at the very beginning, but what exactly does that mean?  Imix is described as the alligator, what does this mean to you and me?  A purse, some shoes, an exotic animal?

Imix is symbolic of the primal beginnings.  Without this primal matter we have nothing in which to stage our days, or our creations.  Think about it.  We can talk all we want of the infinite universe, and we are “all that and a bag of chips” but what we “could be” and “what we are” are two different things.  Matter does matter.  Having something tangible to hold in your hand is what makes life real.

The mud can be molded, and the mud holds all the elements that gives us a place to plant the seed and watch it grow – more on that later.  For now we have Imix, the seemingly insignificant matter where it all begins and ends.  This is it, this is what we focus on today: Being Here Now, such a simple concept but such a difficult place to be.
