Our culture is very slanted in its views, with a fear-based filtering to protect us from what we do not understand. We gravitate to the light, pushing away the parts of ourselves that remains in silence for fear that someone might see. There is also a lean toward building, but yet we have seen the effects of too much growth too quickly. At some point things must break away.
Yesterday was the day of the seed, Kan. Put a dollar in your hand, what will you make of it? I am reminded of the story of the 5 cent apple. We make of it what we will, but one thing is for sure: you have to let go of what you have in order to get what you want. Yes, I know there are examples you can give that would contradict this statement, but the point of the Mayan Daily Insights is to focus on one point each day, one step, one idea, one digestible bite.
Read the story of the apple, to have more apples the money must be spent, and that means spending it in the right direction. To have anything we want is an investment. We must break away the shell from the seed in order to make it grow.
Today is 11 Edznab the Flint in the Mayan Tzolkin Calendar. Going back to the story of the apple: not everyone would have agreed with the choice to sell the shiny apple; heck, if you are hungry eat the darn thing, that’s what it is there for. Energy spent, making choice, choosing to let go of something we might love in order to get something better. The choice is ours, and ours alone.
