This morning’s message has been so clearly presented in image, but not in words. We could speak of loyalty, so often the word used to describe the act instilled in the symbol today in the Mayan Daily Insights. Today is 3 Oc the Dog in the Mayan Tzolkin Calendar.
No, let’s put aside the word loyalty and delve into the word ‘commitment’. This morning I had open an old English/Chinese dictionary, and looked up the word. The last of the definitions of the word commitment is ‘the act of exposing oneself’.
What exactly is commitment? Is it a decision or an action that follows? Looking back we are reminded of the acts of many who have stood beside their own words, not just speaking but living their statements.
How does all this relate to one person in these present days? Not many of us can sustain a lifetime commitment as shown to us by the great masters of the past, but we can carry the qualities of commitment into our day to day living. Commitment is not perfection, it is the focus, decision, and follow through. Call it going full circle, it is simply walking through the ring of fire that might frighten some, but walking through it nonetheless because it is the way to reach the state of completion.
We can turn back to the beginning of this post and refresh the idea of loyalty, an attribute often attribute to a dog, and since this is the day of Oc, the dog isn’t it appropriate? Loyalty lies on the surface, it is the commitment, the reasoning, that is the driving force.
