Thirteen is considered to be an unlucky number by many, with many coincidences and superstitions hidden over time. In the Mayan Tzolkin beliefs that date back much further than the silly little superstitions that we have the number 13 is a magical number. I have been curious about the association of the number 13 and the idea that it is a sacred point for some time, and over many occasions I have had a glimpse at what that means.
Today is Tuesday June 8th, which makes it 13 Ben, the symbol of the Reed in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar. Today let’s talk about going with the flow, being open to opportunities, and not getting stuck in our old beliefs. This is one of the traits that is found in successful people, the ability to see things as they are, assess the situation, and respond in a way that makes sense. We can move forward by sense, not by superstition as we have so many times in the past.
Tomorrow starts another cycle, returning back to the number one and cycling through for a 13 day count back to the number 13 where it all starts again back at one. What’s different is the glyph or focus of that particular day. How do we respond to the world in a way that moves us forward to success? By understanding the power we hold in our hand today, and making good use of it.
