Let Yourself Create In Your Own Way

As I look back over the posting this week, or the interwoven threads of insights presented, so much of it has to do with just relaxing into being a part of our own world.  We’ve called it things like “getting out of our own way”, and have likely thrown around a few other expressions.

This is where we bring in the subtle message for today as we turn the wheels of the Mayan Tzolkin calendar to 7 Ben, the Reed.  Go back over the past few days:  breath, let yourself let go ever now and then.  We don’t get anywhere by being rigid.

The qualities of the Reed dates back many centuries, with the most documented being ancient Egypt.  The Reed was commonly available, and people used it in so many clever and useful ways: making paper that came in very handy since that time period was also a time of expansion for writing and recording our wisdom.  Reeds were used to make boats as well, a use vastly different than paper.  This is the point, that the Reed was used in so many different ways to help mankind grow, expand, and become more powerful than they were without those inventions.

So now we’ve gone back to ancient times to find an example and actually tie the physical Reed to the concept of the Reed.  Let’s come back to present time and see how this piece fits in the puzzle.

We’re taught to do certain things in a certain way, and that’s useful quite a bit of the time.  We can quickly and easily communicate an idea or desire by speaking the same language, and agreeing to play along with the concept that says there is a value of a dollar.  But our creations don’t always have to fit within the constructs of what has been accepted in the past.  Back in those Egyptian times they did not say, “The Reed is for paper, so you cannot make boats from it”.

This simple insight for today is only a piece of the bigger picture, but the greater clarity we have with those pieces the easier it is for us to understand the whole.  That’s the whole purpose of my postings, bringing clarity to each piece to make the bigger picture even brighter.  Today our message is to be flexible in our creativity, finding new uses or new directions.  That flexibility is how we grow, becoming stronger in a sense, and of more value.
