Many have said it already: the old ways are dying off. Look at the calendar, we have the upcoming 2012 and how many give at least a little thought to the idea that a big change is in the works?
Ever wonder why it takes so long to shed the patterns that we no longer want? We want change, but we fear it as well. How much of that fear is founded in truth? Fear in our times is oftentimes founded on what could happen, not what is happening.
Today as we turn the wheels of the Mayan Tzolkin calendar we find the combination of 12 Chicchan, the sign of the Serpent. With this sign or symbol we can talk about that passion we feel, and to unleash that passion, well, can we do that without going too far? When did celebration become something that happens every now and then instead of being the underlying tone in our life?
We’re taught to maintain our composure, to control our thoughts and expression. If we combine control and fear we see it as a very unconscious way of living. If we look at living with consciousness we see composure and direction. It is not the reigning in or elimination of our passion, it is using that passion to sail our ship.
Passion is only one of the empowering qualities we possess, but the Mayan Tzolkin calendar gives it placement for a reason. The thought of the day comes from Chicchan, the Mayan symbol for passion, and let’s mix in some appreciation that our passion has played a role in getting where we are today. The old ways are dying off but we are more able to let it happen, for we are conscious and ready to embrace creating our own destiny.
