Most of what we know, collectively, is through our own experience, at least in terms of consciousness. How could we ever measure whether a flower has consciousness, and if so how they see their world. What do we really know of consciousness, whether we have peaked or merely touched the surface of our own.
In the Mayan calendar the third glyph is Akbal, the Night. We begin with the primal earth materials of Imix, followed by the wind or breath of Ik, and then arrive at Akbal in every circle turned. Matter which is animated, and given consciousness.
What explanation can be given for why we have consciousness. Are we here to learn and grow? Is it simply a means by which we keep the world turning through our interactivity and reactions? Is our awareness an expression of a part of us that does not take shape or form, but does influence the tangible things we create?
Today as we turn the wheels of the Mayan Tzolkin calendar we meet 4 Akbal, the Night or the House. So much takes place that is beyond the physical, and that includes the workings of the mind. How much we integrate that consciousness into our world is an individual thing, as well as how much we allow ourselves to view life from the consciousness perspective. The number 4 that accompanies Akbal on this day is one of measure and of the earth, with the four season and the four quadrants of the clock. It seems to be a square peg with a round hole, trying to fit together the etheric quality of consciousness in a physical world.
