The Mayan Tzolkin calendar at first glance appears to be very simplistic and primitive. After all, the glyphs are representative of very basic things that you and I may not ever come in contact with, or think about in our Ipad and triple latte world. Take for example today’s glyph, or symbol: the seed. ”Wow, a seed, am I supposed to relate to this?”, but then the question could be asked, where does all our greatness come from?
There’s more to the seed, though: the actual combination for today is 12 Kan, the seed. Looking at this combination on a intuitive level I see something similar to what I saw in my garden the other day, something I anticipated but still appreciated when I saw the actual event. New seedlings were pushing their way through the ground and beginning a journey. Those seeds had been lying dormant for two years, confined to a bag inside my home. Given the right conditions though, with what appears to be no consciousness related to them, they transformed.
We have those moments, too, those transformational times. Our transformations are not always on the outside, and the amazing part of it is that our transformations are not always in a straight line. By that I mean that we do not always follow the genetic pathway that the bean seed in my garden is following. It’s amazing the things we can do, and the depth of transformation we can achieve using our knowledge and awareness.
Where does all our greatness come from? It begins with a beginning, reaching into that bag and pulling out an opportunity, an idea, and giving it a chance to grow. Looking back on those silly little symbols, those glyphs, how could anyone relate to something as simple as a seed?
