During a sleepless time in the middle of the night I pondered the upcoming days and the interpretations of each day in the Mayan Tzolkin calender. I was a bit surprised at what I found when I arrived at today’s glyph and tone, 5 Oc, the Dog. Usually I see this glyph as such a stable, dedicated attribute in our lives.
What I found instead is the world of illusion. Sometimes we look at another person, usually far removed from our own world of beliefs, and see the affect it has on their life when they cling to a belief that challenges themselves or those around them. How often do we hold tightly to our own beliefs, and force our world to weave itself into what could be a misshaped support of that belief?
This combination today, of tone and glyph of 5 Oc, the Dog, is the idea that we must hold true to our own life, to our stories and our beliefs. Certainly we will adjust those ideas throughout our life, after all we are forever changing and growing, but overall we need to stay focused on our own life path, our direction, our mission if we call it that.
There is a flipside, that our beliefs, direction and even our treasured life path is an illusion. We see it from our inner perspective, and from this interwoven perspective of past present and future it is very real, but not every can see or identify with our inner world. This is why it is so important for us to hold on to our own dream, not leave it to others to make our dream come true.
