Today’s story, derived from the spiritual interpretation of the Mayan Tzolkin calendar day of 9 Manik, the Deer, focuses on a part of us that for most is very prominent in our childhood. Some of us never grow out of this trait.
If we were to step outside of our present complex world with its many distractions, and look at the relationship between adult and child in a clearer, cleaner perspective, we might see this scenario: a child almost bursting at the seams with creativity, drawing and telling a story about the creation, looking up to the adult with occasional glances for reassurance that everything is good. How often do we look at others for acceptance?
The adult looks down upon the child with a gentle smile, listening to the words that express the creativity of that giant soul in a little body. The message given is one of loving acceptance, at least in the story I tell today.
Today we focus on 9 Manik, actually taking that step into utilizing our own creativity, making whatever we dream happen. We do so in a gentle way, looking out from our child-like eyes to see how others receive us. We look at ourselves through the adult eyes, remembering that we are unique, and in this world there is a tremendous acceptance of individual creativity (in many circles). Last but not least we can step into the role of the overseer, the higher presence that connects us all.
Every one of us can stand quietly by and listen, allowing others a moment of expression that is welcomed and accepted. Each of us is unique, and Manik, the Deer, the Mayan glyph that is woven into this day, shows us the greatest way to live in a world where we are all accepted for who we are. It is your life – be what you want to be.
