Over the past couple of days we have looked at any successful venture in life. It doesn’t matter if its business or relationship, or a game we play to amuse ourselves. We always start with an idea, a strategy. We commit with our focus, energy directed in a way to achieve that goal, then we follow through to completion. No matter which angle we look at it, we see consistency throughout.
Sure, there may be some modifications from the original plan, but overall we see that the decision was made to follow through. What traits do we see when there is not success? It could be a gap just about anywhere in the process: an idea that doesn’t hold water; a lack of action, leaving success up to fate or luck; or a lack of ownership of the outcome.
Today in the Mayan calendar we look at the combination of 4 Men, the Eagle. Just like yesterdays’ Jaguar the Eagle speaks of honor, strength, and character, which leads us back to the theme of the last few days: The world is our stage, and we are its characters. Life doesn’t just happen to us, we take part in life.
No matter which angle you take on success there is one thing for certain – the only time we use the word success is when we talk about a plan that is executed and brought to completion. That is success: not a fluke, a mistake, luck, chance, or any other explanation that takes our power away from us. We are all successful at whatever we choose and direct our energies into, whether it is something tangible or commitment to the space of non-commitment.
How do we carry the ideas of 4 Men, the Eagle into this day? Looking back over the steps that lead to this point, we think, commit, and follow through in everything we do today.
