The Game in Which We Play

The postings this week to me are very different than the postings of the past.  Perhaps it is the starting and ending points of this 13 day cycle, starting with the very cosmic abstract view of Cimi, the Mayan symbol of death.  We do live in a world of opposites, and without the one side how clearly can we see the other.  We are here to live both solidly in the world we create and conceptually in the concepts we create, melding the two together in a way that makes sense, in its own twisted way.  This 13 day cycle does end on another cosmic glyph with Edznab, so it is no wonder the focus seems to be on recognizing the illusional aspects of our lives.

Today we bring together the combination of 6 Chuen, the monkey.  Sometimes we take a cynical approach to our own ability to see things in our own way.  We laugh at the stories believed by our children, even leading them into believing in bunnies at Easter and fat men in red suits.  How does this relate to Chuen the Monkey, or the number tone of six?

Taken at face value: so much of what we think of as real and valuable is in fact illusion.  Money itself holds no value, it is only a promise note that we agree has a value, and like the nursery rhyme tells us, “when the wind blows, the cradle will rock”.  It has been seen historically, and is both feared and denied today that someday, “the cradle will fall”.  With this shallow perspective of our illusionary world it is no wonder we are at times cynical.

That, my friend, is the shallow perspective.  6 Chuen, the Monkey, reminds us that there is life within the game, something of greater value than the game itself.  Find that spark, the passion and the purpose, and the game becomes only the board on which we play.
